Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC) a premier organization established for Collection and Dissemination of Scientific & Technological Information to cater to the information needs of the scientific community at National Level. Journal Publishers Consortium launching ceremony for Balochistan Region under PSDP project title “National Digital Archive of Research Published in Pakistani Journals” along with project awareness activity was held at Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta on March 9, 2023. The ceremony was attended by the Journal editors, ORIC and scientific community representatives of Balochistan Region..
The main objective was to introduce the project Scope to the stakeholders. Through this project, PASTIC is aimed to develop networking of journals publishers’ community, preservation of national research content and development of visualization model to review research trends at country level. PASTIC will support journal publishers by providing free journal hosting, data import/backup services and financial assistance for digitization and capacity building of publishers, editors and scientific community.
Pro VC UITEMS, Dr. Abdul Rehman Khan was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Director General, PASTIC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh gave brief introduction of PASTIC services.
Project Manager, Saifullah Azim briefly explained the project’s aims and objective towards providing a single electronic-platform to Journals publisher community in Pakistan for preservation and dissemination of indigenous research published in Pakistani Journals.
Pro VC BUITEMS, Dr. Abdul Rehman Khan, appreciated the PASTIC’s initiative for development of national archive for preservation of research content.
